On 26 and 27 September 2026, the retreat for the Nazarenian Fraternities of Uruguay took place at the Casa del Buen Pastor in Florida. The chosen theme was: ‘Learning to pray and meditate in the Nazarenian Fraternities, guided by the Venerable Brother Gabriel Taborin’. With Eduardo Semproni leading the reflection, we explored our ways of praying in greater depth. The retreat was attended by 38 people, including Brothers and laypeople from various fraternities: Santa Ana, Gabriel Taborin, St John the Baptist, St Joseph the Renewer, Our Lady of Guadalupe and Salto.
There was an atmosphere of prayer and fellowship which helped the participants to reflect on the ways in which we usually pray. Gabriel’s text, ‘The Guiding Angel’, served as a point of reference for the participants to deepen their relationship with God. The central moment was the shared Eucharist. During the service, six commitments were made: three participants from the Gabriel Taborin Fraternity in Montevideo (Mara Galeano, Mariángeles Lukin and Elena Jorge) made their first commitments, whilst two other participants renewed theirs (Laura Franzini and Rosario Moreira); and Ramón Rivas from the Salto Fraternity made his final commitment to live the Gospel and work within the Church for the Kingdom of God, drawing inspiration from the Holy Family of Nazareth and living the spirit of family in their respective states of life, in accordance with the Statutes of the Association of Nazarene Fraternities.
