Once again this year, the Pastoral Team has given around 100 children and young people – from Year 3 to Year 9 – the chance to enjoy a summer experience with a difference: a week ‘filled with JOY’!!! It’s a way of continuing the ‘family’-centred educational project that characterises our Sacra Famiglia school in Turin. We discovered just how wonderful it is to live together, playing and reflecting, walking, praying and dancing…. We experienced first-hand just how beautiful it is to live together as ‘sisters and brothers’… All three weeks were a real success. Every day we encouraged reflection with a few questions, creating an atmosphere of listening and sharing. We alternated moments of discussion with free play to help us get to know one another better.
At the end, there was the ‘desert’, a time for personal reflection during which each child looked back on the week and had the chance to talk things through with the educators. Finally, the bonfire, as is traditional, was the most intense and moving moment, during which the young people exchanged small, personalised keyrings, decorated with the recipient in mind, to express the affection and gratitude they had developed over the course of the week.
