The patronal feast of the Province of Our Lady of the Assumption was celebrated on 24 August in Valladolid. On the same date, Brothers Eustasio Lozano, José Luís Garrido and Jacinto Izquierdo celebrated their Golden Jubilee of religious life. These Brothers were accompanied by the Brothers of the Province, their families and friends. It was a time to congratulate and express their gratitude and affection to the Brothers honoured, giving thanks to God for the fifty years of fidelity on their part and on God’s part towards them.
The Eucharist was presided over by Brother Longinos Palomo, accompanied by the other four Brother-Priests of the Province, as well as the chaplain of the Colegio Sagrada Familia of Madrid. In his homily, Brother Longinos recalled the central motive of this celebration: “To remember the mercies of the Lord”: to remember and to give thanks; to praise and to relive.
Before the farewell, the Brother Provincial read out some congratulations from far and wide, including that of the Superior General, Brother Francisco Javier Hernando. For their part, the three Brothers addressed a few words of remembrance and thanksgiving for their 50 years lived in the Institute and consecrated to evangelisation, in accordance with the charism of Brother Gabriel Taborin.
The celebration ended with a fraternal agape, which also served to share the life and situation of the Province.
