75 years of presence – Barcelona

75 years building family: Sagrada Familia School in Horta celebrates the arrival of the Brothers in Barcelona. On 8 November, Sagrada Familia School in Horta celebrated with deep emotion the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the Brothers of the Holy Family in Barcelona. It was a heart-warming event that brought together Brothers, former students, families, teachers and members of the educational community, united by gratitude and shared joy.

The celebration featured speeches by various authorities, including Brother Javier Hernando, Superior General, as well as brief testimonies from former students and families who recalled experiences marked by the family spirit that characterises the institution. The students also offered two musical performances that filled the gathering with colour and enthusiasm.

Throughout the event, the enthusiasm of the first Brothers was evoked, guided by their faith, their mission and their desire to found a school at the service of Christian education for children. Seventy-five years later, their example continues to be the starting point and inspiration for looking to the future with hope, remaining faithful to the founding spirit.

Special emphasis was placed on the mark the school has left on the Horta neighbourhood and how, following the inspiration of Brother Gabriel, it has become a true second home, a place where everyone feels accompanied and safe. Education, pastoral care, sport and solidarity were remembered as the pillars of a project that seeks to form committed, open and fraternal individuals.

The closing words were filled with gratitude to God, to the first Brothers and to all those who, over the years, have made the continuity of this mission possible: Brothers, teachers, families, collaborators and students. The commemoration concluded with the screening of a moving commemorative video and the performance of the 75th anniversary anthem, followed by the celebration of the collegiate Eucharist on Sunday, 9 November, in thanksgiving for so many years of shared life.
