To celebrate the anniversary of a school complex, to look back over a decade… is to remember, to go back to the Source! “As early as 1952, Cardinal Gerlier, Archbishop of Lyon, gave his oral agreement to the establishment of a community of the Brothers of the Holy Family in the diocese of Lyon. Family in the diocese of Lyon. The request was approved in advance by Canon Gilbert Garnier, parish priest of Sainte Jeanne d’Arc parish. On 24 May 1954, the archbishop officially authorised the Congregation of the Brothers of the Holy Family “to set up in the diocese the house required to take charge of the school”. The opening declaration submitted to the Rhône Education Inspectorate was approved on 8 October 1954. In this way, the local history of eastern Lyon saw the birth of what has yet to be translated into day-to-day reality, a school project to grow from cradle to adult size. Brother Yves Perier-Muzet To blow out our 70 candles is to look in the rear-view mirror of “Foucauld”. It means pausing in our lives and taking stock of how far we’ve come… Our roots? All the pieces of the jigsaw that have made up the Foucauld of yesterday and today. All the people who, over the past 70 years, have opened the doors of this school to experience a slice of life, either at school or in their professional lives! Our roots have given birth to a beautiful tree with 4 branches to develop over the next 10 years: RESPECT – SUPPORT – SHARE and SUCCESS! An unmarked day at the School, Collège and Lycée… A morning with workshops on our anniversary year, workshops where pupils and teachers shared their talents… An afternoon TOGETHER at the Collège where it all started with 68 pupils and 3 classes. 70 years later, 2526 pupils and 82 classes joined their voices to sing “I need our paths to cross”.
“I need our paths to cross When time brings us together,
everything’s prettier! And even when faced with walls,
we can overcome them together… “
