‘The night of the museums” is an event organised jointly by several museums and cultural institutions. During the event, the participating establishments are open for several hours in the afternoon and evening, bringing visitors closer to museums and cultural institutions.
The original idea emerged in Berlin in 1997 and soon moved to many other cities around the world. It arrived in Buenos Aires in 2004 in a format similar to the original. Tandil, our city, celebrates this year its ninth edition with the opening of some 40 spaces.
The San José School Museum, inaugurated in 2008 to celebrate the centenary of the school and the arrival of the Brothers of the Holy Family in Argentina, opened its doors to join ‘La Noche de los Museos’ in 2018 for the first time.
The museum exhibition consists of 5 distinct sectors, which through texts, images and various objects invite visitors to immerse themselves in the historical school environment of St. Joseph’s School. These five sectors are well differentiated and are: The Foundation, The History, The Brothers of the Holy Family, The Educational Community and The Pedagogical Proposal.
The school’s participation in the Night of the Museums 2024 was an opportunity to open its doors to the community in a different way, offering the people of Tandil, in addition to the museum exhibition, a tour of the graduates’ gallery, the chapel and the terrace of the building.
The exhibition was visited on this occasion by hundreds of Tandilians: students and their families, teachers, former students and the general public, generating in many of them emotions, memories and surprises. Together with the exhibition, the 6th Solidarity Meeting of Sa-Fa Choirs was held at the College, which was part of the planned programme, with the participation of the choirs of the Escuti Institution of Córdoba, the Colegio Sagrada Familia of Buenos Aires and the host Colegio San José of Tandil. Brother Germán Camarero was the animator.
