Sa-Fa Family Leaders – the America

From 8 to 11 September, the leaders of the Sa-Fa Family’s National Teams from the Americas met in Ambato, Ecuador. The Headteachers and Pastoral Co-ordinators from the three centres in Ecuador also attended. We were able to visit all three centres and meet with their management teams, thereby gaining a better understanding of the educational situation there. This meeting was organised in line with the Mission Team’s programme, which, under the section on “International Coordination and Networks”, set the objective of “Fostering relationships between those in charge across continents and/or nations”. It also responds to the General Council’s Action Plan, which set the objective of “Promoting networks of collaboration between works, provinces and regions”.

It was a working meeting, a time to “walk together” and share the richness of each country. A key topic of discussion was the lecture “What kind of evangelisation is needed in our schools today? A young person’s perspective”, delivered to us via videoconference by Brother Enzo Biemmi. Another key focus was the session on “Artificial Intelligence in Schools: an ethical vision at the service of the person”, presented by a lecturer from Uniandes. Brother Cristian García offered us a valuable contribution on “Sa-Fa Spirituality in our schools”. We also worked on the “Magnifica humanitas”.

At all three centres, we were warmly welcomed by the Community and the Management Teams. We are grateful for their warm, family-like welcome. The meeting concluded with a commitment to meet again and to “walk together”.
