Social role of education and technology in Sa-Fa Valladolid

Valladolid Sa-Fa Tech: Higía Project “education and technology with social commitment”.

Among the centre’s most ambitious initiatives is the Higía Project: Social Robot, an applied innovation proposal developed in collaboration with the CIFP Avilés and CIFP Majada Marcial centres and the company Ofinnova 3D. This project aims to design and build an interactive social robot, conceived as an educational and assistance tool to improve the quality of life of the elderly.
Higía is not only a technical learning experience for the students; it is also an example of how technology can be put at the service of social welfare. Over the course of nine months, students and teachers at CIFP Sagrada Familia Tech worked on tasks such as the development of user interfaces, the autonomous navigation of the robot, its modular design and its capacity for human interaction.
The project promotes transversal skills aligned with Industry 4.0: programming in languages such as Python and C++, artificial intelligence, human-robot interaction design, additive manufacturing, technological ethics and sustainability. It also promotes teacher training, gender equality in STEAM fields and knowledge transfer between educational centres and companies.
Thanks to Higía, the students of CIFP SaFa Tech not only acquire state-of-the-art technical skills, but also values of collaboration, creativity and social commitment, positioning the centre as a national benchmark in educational innovation applied to social robotics.
