The event was based at the Chácara Recanto Sagrada Família in Brasília and reaffirmed the motto that inspired the entire gathering: “Connected with Gabriel Taborin.”

The reference to the Venerable Brother Gabriel Taborin, founder of the congregation from which the Sa-Fa Brazil Family Network originated, set the tone for the programme. Over the course of the days, the young people experienced moments of spiritual formation, cultural exchange and, above all, service to those most in need—core values of the charism left by the founder.

The programme began with a welcome for the groups, dinner and the official opening on Friday (4 September). On Saturday (5 September), the day was devoted to a spiritual and formative retreat led by the Novo Ardor Catholic Community, divided into two sessions throughout the morning. In the afternoon, participants learnt about the Caritas Project, an initiative that would form the heart of the following day’s mission, and took part in a roundtable discussion with the Brothers of the Holy Family. The day concluded with Mass at the farm and, in the evening, a ‘Luau Fraterno’, during which each city represented prepared a cultural performance and a traditional sweet, celebrating the diversity of the communities within the Familia Sa-Fa Brasil Network.

Sunday (6 September) was the highlight of the mission. In the morning, the young people welcomed children and teenagers from the Warao indigenous group, as part of the Cáritas Project, with songs, workshops, games and activities. In the afternoon, the group visited the project’s headquarters in the indigenous village, gaining a first-hand insight into the work carried out with the community, as well as experiencing their culture, during an afternoon marked by heartfelt exchanges between the student missionaries and the children and teenagers. The day ended with a Eucharistic celebration and a time for sharing and saying farewell.

Once the missionary phase was over, part of the group, coming from Itapiranga and Marau, spent a day sightseeing in the federal capital, including watching the 7 September parade on the Esplanade of the Ministries, before each delegation gradually returned to their home towns.

More than just a pastoral activity, the SAFA 2026 Youth Mission strengthened the bonds between the different units of the Familia Sa-Fa Brasil Network. By bringing together students from Itapiranga, Marau, Ibema and the two Brasília units to work on the same service project, the experience put into practice the legacy of Brother Gabriel Taborin: an education that is fulfilled through encountering others, especially those most in need.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”30023,30028,30033,30038,30043,30048,30053,30058,30063″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Between 4 and 8 September, the Sa-Fa Brazil Family Network organised the SAFA Youth Mission 2026, bringing together students from five schools within the network: the schools in Itapiranga, Marau and Ibema, as well as the two schools in Brasília, located in Asa Norte and Sobradinho.

[74,79,61
