On August 1, 2020, Brother Cristian Fabián Ramón made his religious profession in Quito’s community (Ecuador). The pandemic known by everyone and the governmental restrictions for meetings, prevented all the Brothers of Ecuador’s participation. Only a few Brothers, his parents, and a brother were present. The significant virtual participation balanced this shortage of physical presence. Brothers, friends, family, and members of Fraternities around the world joined the celebration. On the screen, we saw Brothers and friends from India, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Spain…  Thanks, everyone!

Brother Fabian, with enthusiasm, after a year of novitiate, pronounced his generous yes to God following the example of Brother Gabriel. The celebration was presided over by Fr. Fernando Perera and Brother Fernando Cob received the vows. He is the Master of Novices and Delegate of the Provincial in Ecuador-Colombia, and accompanied him throughout the year. The three readings of the celebration invited us to contemplate the mission that God bestows on each one and, on this occasion, especially on Fabian for the generosity with which God asks us to respond to him. Jesus’  compromising words to Peter “Peter, do you love me,” which were proclaimed in the Gospel and Peter’s response “You know I love you,” were the expression of this evangelical and communal commitment of Fabian as Brother of the Holy Family. Everyone, from a distance, thanked God for the Sa-Fa family that day became a little bigger, more universal, and more Nazarene.

After the celebration, the new Brother thanked all for their presence by outlining his last years. The General Administration and Brother Provincial also sent their congratulations, which were read. The virtual link allowed some participants from afar to personally congratulate live Brother Fabian at the end of the rite.

Eleven people were able to share a sumptuous Ecuadorian lunch in the community dining room after the celebration. Thank you to all who came together to pray for Fabian and the Congregation on this day.
