With the motto “Berdiri dan pergilah” (Lk 17,19) (Get up and go on your way) the first profession of twelve novices, eight Indonesians and four Timorese, was celebrated on the evening of 10 July in Nita. The entrance procession was simpler than usual, as this year neither the parents of the newly professed, nor the Delegate of Indonesia and Timor-Leste, nor the boys and girls who usually lead the way with their dances took part. Mgr Edwaldus Martinus Sedu, Bishop of Maumere, presided at the Eucharist, concelebrated by several priests from friendly congregations. Brother Andrés received the religious vows on behalf of the General Animator. The choir was made up of fifteen of our formandi, directed by the novice Desio Nule.
The usual speeches were then given, this time by the Bishop, the local Animator and the newly professed Brother Patrisius Joan. The message sent by the General Animator for the occasion was also read out. This was followed by the sharing of supper. As all the festivities were cancelled due to the new spread of the coronavirus, the celebration was not prolonged this time with the usual musical performances and dances.
