Roma – Turín – Villa Brea – Favari
Nazarene Fraternity of Rome
The Nazarene Fraternity of Rome is formed at present by three members: Marisa, Marcella and Alberta. Very reduced in number, but happy for the path travelled and with the hope other people will come and make grow (not only in number) our small family, with the gift of its fraternal presence. This lowliness and familiarity, very Nazarene, have made sprout in us many positive aspects, above all, the fraternal friendship, which unites us to the Brothers who accompany in our way. We feel “at home” and our meetings are developed in an authentic “spirit of family”.
It is almost 20 years since we started our meetings and two of us we have already experience the joy of assuming the definitive compromise to belong to the Nazarene Fraternity.
We gather on Saturdays evenings, in a simple meeting which gives us strength to face with faith the responsibilities and daily tasks. In the meeting we share the main events of the week and we reflect with Nazarene “eyes” the Sunday Gospel, so that the whole week may be transformed by this same spirit. Naturally, we also add to our reflection the figure of Brother Gabriel, his charism, the liturgical year, the important events of the life of the Church and society. The prayer joins us with the Community of Brothers in the chapel to pray the Rosary and the celebration of Vespers: it is a weekly encounter, hoped and lived with joy by all as fundamental moment of communion and spiritual enrichment. Other moments are: days of recollection, pilgrimages, participation in diocesan initiatives, occasions of feasts –few but precious-, because we try to live them with the same spirit of family, a family that broadens the experience of the Fraternities of our Province.
Each one of us lives the own apostolate in the respective Parishes, in the catechesis, in the liturgical animation and in the singing. Marisa collaborates actively with the Brothers. She is inserted in the same parish community; the other two are happy when receiving orientation and exchanging experiences.
Nazarene Fraternity of Turin
The Nazarene Fraternity of Turin was born many years ago but the first temporal compromises started on 24 November 1999. It is formed by 10 members, since a long time in contact with the Brothers collaborating in many initiatives and activities of the School. After some years of specific preparation with temporary compromises, on 1 November 2003 in the sanctuary of Villa Brea, together with the Fraternity of Rome, they made the compromises definitively in the presence of the Superior General, Br. Lino da Campo.
Four of the first members of the group are with the Lord and Brother Gabriel. In our meetings we pray to the Lord for them and with them. We are entrusted to their intercession.
We gather once a month, usually Monday during the novena to our Founder, for the common prayer of the evening with the Brothers (Vespers and Mass), with them we also have the supper in fraternity and after we have the meeting.
The meeting starts with invocation to the Holy Spirit and the Holy Family. We pray especially for the Communities of Brothers, for the Nazarene Fraternities in the world, for the vocations… After we have reading and reflection on a text. Last year, Year of Faith, we read and reflected the encyclical on faith (‘Porta fidei’) of Pope Benedict XVI, and this year we reflect and read the encyclical “Spe salvi”. We consider very useful to deepen with this reading and reflection our faith and hope.
The document of the XXXVII General Chapter of the Brothers of the Holy Family encourages us to consider the inculturation not only as integration of the different cultures, but also the contact with different people, each one in his context of life, with his mentality, culture, traditions, opinions, desires, expectations.
Our goal is to care our relationships within our family, with our friends, with our neighbours, with those who come to the parish and in other occasions. We want to offer them the testimony of our lives.
We try to be available to the needs of all, able to listen and welcome the small details: a smile, a greeting, a good word for all, seeing the good side, giving a little bit of our time, being a stimulus, and when necessary to offer our help; to keep always the serenity to know how to transmit it to those who are near, especially those who suffer, those who are worried; to be sensitive to the people with problems; to those who are in contact with the children to help them to grow in faith and to acquire confidence in life.
To care better for our formation, beyond what each member cultivates personally, we listen to a conference, normally on the Bible, by Mr Franco Martinacci. We read also some comments of diverse authors on Brother Gabriel. We want to know him better. In particular, we try to understand his charism, his spirituality, his devotion to the Holy Family. We have before our eyes the Holy Family in the house of Nazareth, to admire his example and strive to grow in the imitation of our patron saints, Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
Nazarene Fraternity of Villa Brea
The Nazarene Fraternity of Villa Brea is formed by a group of people of different ages. It gathers monthly, during two hours, at night, and is advised by Brothers Pierino and Luigi.
Its meetings are lived in the prayer and in sharing. The community prayer in the chapel is the intense and participative moment that leads us to feel useful and able to listen to the Word of God. The reflections, with different materials (slides, readings, songs, etc.) help us to concentrate more in the dialogue and in the group reflection.
In a welcoming and peaceful place we get ready to live an open and fraternal relationship among all. The style of life of the Fraternity is inspired in the example of the Holy Family of Nazareth, especially, in its simplicity, essentiality and love. In our daily activities, we feel the fraternity as a personal testimony of silence and humility that is translated in specific actions useful to the neighbour.
We carry to our home what we have lived in our meeting which is made dialogue and sharing. The real secret of this group is in reaching to understand that each one of us is something precious that, at any age, all have personal gifts to offer and limitations to polish.
It is an approach of life, not easy, but, deeply, is the key of the freedom God has put in each one of us. Each meeting proposes and opens new reflections with different strategies, which creates a climate of depth and reciprocal respect towards the thought of each one.
The way of the Nazarene Fraternity is open to all those who want to make a travel of Christian life starting from the charism and testimony of the Brothers of the Holy Family.
Nazarene Fraternity of Favari
The Nazarene Fraternity of Favari aroused for the exigency of some families to fulfil the need to meet other persons and families to pray, to share the own ideas, joy and pains, which are part of the daily life. The Fraternity, as indicated in the same term, is not a “closed number” or is reserved to privileged people. It gathers the third Mondays of every month. We celebrate solemnly the Vespers, and after we come down to the “blue” room to exchange ideas or to learn something new.
It is formed by some Brothers and 15 persons. Its style of life is based on the family simplicity. The ideal is the Holy Family of Nazareth as they lived the family life with Jesus, Mary and Joseph. The Fraternity as a motto: “In Oratione, Labore et Caritate: Pax”, that we translate as: “The personal and family harmony is fruit of the prayer, the commitment in the own work and the will to love each other”. In a world so selfish and alienating, it is beautiful to live in FRATERNITY!
We have our own website in Internet: www.parrocchie.it/poirino/favari. If you click in “Fraternità nazarena” it will appear news, commitments and events.
