Guaranda – Puyo – Ambato – Quito – Lago Agrio
Nazarene Fraternity of Guaranda
The Nazarene Fraternity of Guaranda had its beginnings in January 2007 and since then we have travelled the path under the shelter of the Holy Family and Brother Gabriel. They are many projects that we have. Here is one testimony of one of the members of the Fraternity, Rocío Guerrero:
“I discovered God in my heart when I was passing through a hard moment in my life. Since then, I tried to reflect his message and to put it in practice in my daily life. I had always the happiness to form part of a lay community or prayer group, that is why I am now happy to belong to this Nazarene Fraternity of Guaranda. I’m convinced that sharing with this group of friends is the most beautiful things I have ever lived, because in the diverse activities that we do, I have a better knowledge of God, of the Holy Family of Nazareth, and I see the people from a different point of view, trying to understand the society and the time in which I have to live, especially to realised how is my spiritual life going on.
After each meeting, where we share very nice moments of fraternity, solidarity, prayer, reflection…, my heart is full of immense joy, because my love grows for God, and at the same time, I thank him because I can experience his unconditional love in every moment of my life.
Our Fraternity is taking the first steps, but firm and sure steps. We have our aims and projects of future, and I’m sure that with the help of God and of every one of us, we will fulfil them.”
Fraternity of Puyo
Our Fraternity was born five years ago, by invitation of the Brothers of the Holy Family, through Br. Jacinto Izquierdo. By little time, we were accompanied by Br. Juan Maté. We were few who we started this adventure. We gathered sporadically; after some time, again Br. Óscar called us to continue with our meetings, and convinced of the spirit of Brother Gabriel, we re-started our meetings guided by Br. José Antonio González; it was then when our Fraternity was consolidated and decided to gather each fifteen days, until by obedience, Br. José Antonio left us and went to another continent, but he left us under the direction of Br. Carlos García.
The Fraternity of Puyo is making its journey with spirit of faith together with the personal dialogues, talks in groups, visits to the needy people and being faithful to the meetings, encouraging the growth of the fraternity, strengthening with our beliefs, overcoming difficulties, mainly creating spirit of body and spirit of family, the legacy given by our Venerable Br. Gabriel Taborin, organizing ourselves and trusting in the responsibility of each member of the fraternity, and committing ourselves to living the vocation with enthusiasm and fidelity.
Fraternity of Ambato
The Fraternity of Ambato started its process of initiation on 10th February, 2012, guided by Bro. José Pineda, and counting with the presence and participation of 14 people, neighbouring the Sector of Ingahurco, near the House of the Brothers of the Holy Family, as well as the parents of family of the students and teachers of the Sa-Fa Educational Centre.
The meetings are every three weeks, on Fridays from 7 till 8:30 pm, following the scheme: Motivation, initial song, biblical reading and reflection, study of a topic, final prayer and song.
At present we are 11 members: Silvia, Mario, Grimanesa, Mirian, Carmita, Roxana, Lucía, Milena, Myriam, Carlota and Ritta.
We have dealt with some topics proper to the spirituality of the Holy Family and the charism of Bro. Gabriel Taborin; we have also participated in the I and II Meeting of Nazarene Fraternities in Ecuador.
Fraternity of Quito
After the experience lived in the parish of Bellavista in the field of catechesis, it came to light the idea to form a Nazarene Fraternity in Quito, in which we can transmit and live the Charism of the Brothers of the Holy Family; and so, in the month of November, 2012, we made a list of the possible candidates to which we could contact to invite them for a meeting and offer them our Institute and the idea of what is a Nazarene Fraternity.
The first meeting was held on 13th October, 2012; we gathered nine guests. During the time, some have left, but others have come as well; today we are 13 members: Elmo, Mayra, Gloria, Iván, Yolanda, Patricia, Francisco, Magdalena, Eliana, Carmen, Rosita, Luis and Ruth.
Brothers Pablo Villaverde and Gerardo are in charge of accompanying the Fraternity, and Br. Pepe during his stay in Quito. We gathered on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 pm every fifteen days and in every encounter we have moments for: prayer, formation, fraternity and sharing.
Thankful to God for these signs of life, we continue with the hope of being rooted and being ferments of life in our society.
“When I was invited to attend a meeting of Fraternities, really I didn’t know what was going on; I went to see, and once there I made myself clear. On seeing how the meetings were developing, I have tried not to miss any, since they fill my spirit, renew and motivate me to continue ahead and to try to put in practice what I have learnt.
Each time is to learn something new, share in experiences with all the members of the Fraternity. We can know better Jesus through our guides, everything is very enriching. We have learnt to use the Bible, forming our own Bible, this helped us much.
I knew the life of Brother Gabriel, how he dedicated his life at the service of the neediest, above all, to know that he worried much about the education of children and youth; this is motivating us to follow somehow his steps in these times where the human values are diminishing, to sow in our families strong roots so that values may last always and they may be transmitted to the families.
We must try that our family may follow the example of the Family of Nazareth” (Yolanda).
