Since 1840 the Mother House was in Belley (France), Brother Gabriel, Founder of the Congregation, lived in it until 1864. After his death it continued being General House.
In 1903 the General House is transferred to Villa Brea (Italy) because of the expulsion of the Religious Congregations in France.
In 1939, at the beginning of the hostilities of the II World War, the General Administration returns again to Belley.
On 1st January, 1970, the General Administration is moved from Belley to Rome, initially in a rented house. From 1972, it is established in an own house, in Frederic Torre Street, no. 25.
In 1980, the present house is purchased. The name of this house is House of the Curia General of the Brothers of the Holy Family, where dwells the General Administration.
The Superior General
Bro. FRANCISCO JAVIER HERNANDO
- He is the successor of the Founder, main heir of his spirit and charism.
- He represents the Institute in front of the ecclesiastical and civil authorities and ensures its fidelity to the Church.
- As animator of the religious life, he is primarily responsible of the fidelity to the Rule.
- He exercises, helped by his Council, the executive authority over the whole Institute.
- He is invested with personal, direct and immediate authority over all the Brothers, Communities and Provinces.
The General Council
THE GENERAL COUNCILLORS
- They help the Superior General in the government of the Institute.
- They are four, and the first one is the Vicar General.
- Their main mission is to contribute to the animation of the religious life of the Brothers, their formation and apostolate.

The General Procurator
- He is in charge of the relations of the Institute with the Holy See.
- He transmits to the Superior General the information and norms of the Church concerning religious life and apostolate.
The General Administrator
- He is in charge of the management of the goods of the Institute, under the direction of the Superior General and the control of his Council.
The General Secretary
- He is in charge of the administrative correspondence.
- He keeps the register of personnel up-to-date.
- He keeps the archives, all the documents and acts referring to the history and the administration of the Institute.
The General Postulator
- He promotes the Cause of glorification of our Founder and others that the Institute considers opportune.
- He is the first responsible for organizing and animating the Postulation in the whole Institute.
The General Government of the Institute comprises the Superior General and the General Councillors, and besides other organizations which, under its direct or indirect orders, are in charge of the General Officials of the Congregation.
