*
Brother, bless God
who gave you life
and called you
to the Christian Life
and to Consecrated Life
in the Institute
of the Brothers of the Holy Family.
*
Your vocation
is a precious gift for the Church.
Let the Father’s love be your joy.
He looked at your lowliness
and he wanted to share with you
his full Trinitarian love
through imitating the home of Nazareth.
*
Brother, love your Congregation.
Remember that in the humble house of Nazareth
you will find the wisdom
that will guide you in your life.
In difficulties
not forsake the company of Jesus, Mary and
Joseph.
Look on them as a family,
your family,
love them and trust in them.
*
Their profound humility,
their simplicity,
their trust in God’s plan,
and their charity
permeate your life.
*
Do not look for renown or distinction
either in the Church or in the world.
Love each one of your Brothers
and all those whom God causes you to meet on the
way
with simplicity, joy and humility.
*
By your consecration
Jesus Christ has made you a witness
of the Father’s love for people.
In close dialogue
with God and with your Brothers,
you are in the world
as a leaven of unity among people,
a sign of the Church
that continues in time
the mystery of Salvation.
*
Brother, the pilgrim Church
recognises herself in you
and she sees in your gift
a token
of the Spirit’s transforming presence.
*
In your consecrated love by the vow of chastity,
the Church discovers
and knows that Christian charity
which is the total love of God
and of people
is still alive.
*
In your poverty consecrated by vow,
the Church discovers with confident certainty
and knows that she lives by anticipation
the enjoyment of future goods.
*
In your obedience consecrated by vow,
the Church discovers and knows that is lives
her union with the Father’s saving will
which continues the Christ’s mission.
Hence your life should show
the characteristics of God’s saving love
that the Church brings to all people.
*
You, Brother,
sign of the Trinitarian life and of the Church,
live in community.
In this way you make present the Father’s will
which wants us to form in Jesus, his Son,
a single family animated by the spirit of
communion.
*
Your religious life is not simply union of people
but a communion of spirits.
Your Brothers are the Father’s gift:
Take care of them,
Love them.
They also look on you as a gift from the Father.
*
In the presence of God you are responsible for
your Brothers.
Let your joy be their joy.
Share their troubles, their ideals and their
efforts.
Do not lead them towards evil.
Be a continuous presence of peace
among them.
Open yourself to them
and they will open themselves to you.
In the melting pot of dialogue
the values from the past, the present and the
future
will take a familiar and attractive appearance.
*
Brother Gabriel still remains among us:
you must be assured of his presence,
to live out and to spread his message,
to increase the number of his disciples
through
your life of faith, hope and love,
your constant dialogue with God,
your patience in trials,
|
|
your complete and disinterested self-giving,
your devotion to Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
*
Strive to reach this human fullness
that allows you
to be truthful without harshness,
to give yourself without selfishness,
to accept yourself and your Brother as he is.
Then you will be gentle with the one who makes a
mistake
and you will live the love that is a gift of
yourself,
a discovery and respect for others,
and a search for truth and union.
*
Try to achieve a religious maturity that
establishes your life
in the truth of real and deep motives,
that puts God in the centre of your vision,
because God has to be unconditionally
the first to be served and loved.
*
This double maturity makes you
brother to everybody.
It becomes for you tenderness and firmness,
good sense and enthusiasm.
*
So that your love should not reject anyone:
we are all brothers.
Give yourself to them.
Suffer with them.
Walk with them.
Love with them.
Love your Brothers
whom the Lord put beside you
very much.
Think of them more than you think of yourself.
*
Let this availability be a priority
for the smallest,
the inexperienced,
the weak, the sick, and those who suffer.
Most of all
let them feel your brotherly presence
close to them.
Do good to all people
through your human and religious richness.
*
Brother, share the charism of your Founder
through your apostolic dynamism.
Try to live again the experience of Brother
Gabriel
being sensitive to the needs
of your time and your Church.
*
As a brother and friend,
educate and guide the young people
through your close and lasting presence.
Through the catechesis
and the liturgical celebrations,
open to them the way that leads to the mystery of
God
and introduce them to the experience of God.
Strive to engender a new being in every heart,
as Mary and Joseph did
by devoting their lives to Jesus.
*
Through the liturgy,
your respect for the clergy,
your dedication to your work,
you show your faith.
May your welcome to the faithful,
your unselfish service,
your deep piety,
make you like the young Gabriel,
a servant of the parish church of Belleydoux.
*
Be faithful in your choice of God.
Although you will have of your experience
fears, dangers and uncertainties in your
vocation,
never be cowardly.
*
Be sincere.
Let there be no double talk
in your free and complete gift of yourself.
*
Work for your permanent conversion
by the authentic acceptance of the cross
because without it resurrection is impossible.
*
The cross is an integral part
of God’s redeeming plan for you.
Live to the end the complete death to self.
In this way you will rise to fullness
through peace, joy, and brotherhood.
*
Brother,
your life is a word,
your being is a prayer.
Let your actions and your words
come together at the daily meeting
with the One who has chose you and loved you.
*
In the living meeting of each day
let yourself be changed by Christ,
food and drink of your life.
Put no obstacle in the way.
*
In faithful expectation,
live intensely your longing
for the meeting at the end of time.
*
In this way
your life will be a credible expression of God’s
love.
