History:
   * The first four brothers arrived in Uruguay on 3/20/1889, at the request of Bp. Yéreguy, archbishop of Montevideo. That same year they founded the "Colegio Sagrada Familia."
   * In the following years they opened some ten educational centers in San José, Salto, Rocha, Montevideo, and the novitiate "Beato Juan María Vianney" in Santa Lucía (1908).
   * In 1923 the "Province of South America" was created, with the houses of Uruguay and Argentina. Besides the brothers from France, Spanish and Italian brothers also arrived.
   * In 1953 the Province takes the name "San José" and in 1963 is made up only of the houses of Uruguay. The number of Uruguayan brothers grew.
 * The Brothers have made an important contribution to the Church and the culture of the country with the publication of textbooks, especially those of H.D. (Brother Damasceno): history, geography, Spanish language, catechesis: of Pedro Martín (Brother Arsenio): mathematics; and Bro. Damián: atlas.

The Present:
The Brothers continue their presence in educational communities, sharing that mission with a good number of laity (about 600) serving some 4,000 students and their families.
